Rock Fort camp at The Dalles - Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, OR. and WA. The Corps experienced rough water at the Great Falls and the Long and Short Narrows of the Columbia, causing much of their supplies to get wet. They were concerned about their security because the Wishram Indians warned them of a planned Indian attack downstream. The rock enclosure made a natural fort, hence the name.
